Call for papers: Engineering Education Special Issue                                      Deadline: 12 September 2016

The discussion of the meaning and usefulness of Engineering Education for advancing the engineering fields is being increasingly discussed all over the world. This discussion is fundamentally interdisciplinary, between researchers from different fields and areas, some from science and others from human sciences: Engineering, Science, Business, Information Systems, Education Sciences, and Psychology.

Following recommendations from Engineering professional associations like SEFI and the ALE network, political organizations like UNESCO, and national and international accreditation organizations of programs like ABET and EURACE, this discussion has been stressing the Engineering Education Active Learning importance.

This special issue aims to promote the discussions, research and reflective practice on the importance of Engineering Education area for the Industrial Engineering and Management field. Considering that Engineering Education research is mainly interdisciplinary and the results are, in their majority, transversal to all areas of engineering, this call for papers is also open to other fields of Engineering.

It is our pleasure to invite teachers, researchers on Engineering Education, deans of Engineering Schools and professionals concerned with Engineering Education to submit a paper to this special issue in Engineering Education, of the Production journal (ISSN 0103-6513), which is supported by the Brazilian Association of Production Engineering - ABEPRO. It is an open access scientific publication without publication fees, indexed by SCOPUS, DOAJ, REDALYC, and waiting final confirmation to be indexed in Thomson Reuters.

This special issue welcomes submissions that focus on the following issues (not limited to), related to Engineering Education methodologies and principles:

  • Industrial Engineering and Management identity, considering the professional practice and competences, areas of knowledge, functions and IEM history.

  • University-Business Cooperation in higher education systems, considering as example, models of interaction with industries, evaluation of impact, win-win collaboration.

  • Research on innovative experiences in engineering education - Active Learning, Problem and Project-Based Learning, Peer Instruction, Flipped Class Room - including the management of change, preparation of teachers and students, and all processes of curriculum development, from design to evaluation.

Best papers submitted to PAEE/ALE’2016 (http://paee.dps.uminho.pt/) and ICIEOM’2016 (http://icieom.org/) conferences, with themes related to this special issue, will be invited to submit to this special issue a deeply revised and extended work.
